Delay switch that really switches off

I think an MCU is a bit of overkill for this. You could easily do this with just a switch, cap, resistor, mosfet and a small relay. Pot the whole thing in silicone.

PE (5 or 6) crashes XP Pro

Hi, I've been running PE on a machine that runs XP Pro (32 bit) for some years. Now, out of the blue, running either PE5 or PE6 totally crashes the machine without warning. There is no dump produced, no blue screen. Just an immediate and complete reset. I wish I had some diagnostics to pass...

Something like this? I'm pretty sure it's no longer available though. Too bad :(

PE V6 not working with Silicon Labs virtual com port driver

Hi Folks, For some reason PE V6 is not working with the SI virtual com port. This was working fine in PE V5 Please let me know how you'd like to proceed to get this fixed. Bill

    Mosfet / Transistor circuit help

Circuit 3 will not work because the voltage drop across the 12V LED strip will prevent the BE junction of the Darlington from forward biasing. As suggested, consider using PWM and a circuit like the attached.

Can someone tell me where I went wrong

I don't think your resistor network works out correctly. It does not provide a linear voltage change. See the attached schematic. This should work. Each of the free resistor legs , including the straight through wire (bottom) would go to the open collector output of one of the AH1801s. The...

how meany leds can a single channel power axe024

rq3, you might be making the mistake that I don't have a clue. Okay. No problem as I really don't have to convince you of anything. Here is the plain facts of the matter, the slope of the load line is the internal resistance. End of story. BTW, I know very well how to determine internal...

how meany leds can a single channel power axe024

Well, You could measure it for sure, and I seem to have a huge number of PICAXE chips, so I might do that at some later date. In the mean time though, Microchip have done that measurement out to a 25mA load. Here is the graph for a PIC 16F7X, which I believe is a fairly typical item: It...

    Transforms 101 - Controlling a servo with a potentiometer

Sometimes we need to take a series of values from a device connected to an analog input, modify those values and output them in a different fashion. One common example of this is reading a potentiometer and using that to position a servo. However, the series of values from the potentiometer...

    Micro-controller related project

Hi All, Well, in trying to start a company I found I lack quite a bit of business knowledge. So to correct that I'm taking this business course at a local college. One of the things I have to do as a project for this course is create a survey to get demographic information. Since I'm interested...

    8, 14 and 20 pin PICAXEs

Okay, let me see if I can give and idea where I'm coming from and what I did to resolve it. I had some previous Microprocessor experience, some Arduino based Microcontroler experience and some FPGA/CPLD experience too. The idea of the PICAXE was appealing and as I researched it, it seemed it...

    8, 14 and 20 pin PICAXEs

Hi all, My first post here. I've been using PICAXE chips for about a year now, and I have a question related to some ideas I have. Relative to the 18, 28 and 40 pin PICAXEs, how popular would you say are the 8, 14 and 20 pin devices?
