Why won't my 28X1 program?

Hi

I have my bread board all configured for a 28X1 but I can not get the Editor program to talk to it, what could I be doing wrong?

My programming lead works as I've tested it with another picaxe chip.

I've got good voltage, I've moved the link on the programming board to position two, I have 0v on pins 8 and 19, +5v on pin 20, pin 1 the reset is pulled high via a 4k7...... Help please

By casual inspection I don't see how you have correct serin/out to #6 & #7. And something on the lower part of the picture that looks like an input circuit may be shorted out depending on how the breadboard is configured... Perhaps look up the chip schematic in manual 1 - I don't know if a resonator is required... perhaps someone else can see your problem...

I think the first thing to do is to disconnect all but the essential connections, including the reset switch.

ok so I've disconnected everything and just had the programming board connected with power and still nothing!!!!

You do not have a decoupling capacitor fitted.

Can you confirm the value of that reset resistor?
