Roll-your-own Logic analyzer

Check what your line printer port expects, some are 3V3 these days. Also check the software runs on your version of Windows. You might need to add additional .DLL's to allow access to the line printer port.

Build a prototype and make sure it works before ending up with a lot of unusable PCB's.

An alternative cct powered by the LPT "STROBE" line.
That should help with the 3v3 vs 5v port issue.

I'll build a prototype of this as well........ :)

sorry to drag this up again - but I have ended up buying myself a NICE AFFORDABLE USB logic analyzer

I have no affiliation - just impressed with the product I have purchased and sure many others here could find a use and the budget for such a beast!

Kill me now Technical if this is not appropriate - just thought others would like to know as I only stumbled across this thing by accident myself!

Re post #1, looks a handy little project. One chip and you have graphs on the screen. A good use for an old computer too.
