Programming Editor in Linux?

Has anyone has any experience using Progedit under Linux using WINE or something (including programming)? I am possibly switching and would like to know first what works. It will probably be Red Hat 9, if that helps.

It doesn't work with the latest Wine on Debian unstable. It might still work with the subscription Cedega wine, but that's a little too expensive for me. I just run the programmer on an old clunker Windows box.
