Plug-board friendly diagnostics tool/display

This DIL format device looks like it could be a great plug-in diagnostics tool for PICAXE development.

Just try to forget its Arduino based and use the planned library of analog and digital display routines.

I like the idea, though.

I got to thinking about the "diagnostics" angle. What I prefer for diagnostics, troubleshooting and etc. is LARGE displays of a LOT of data.

I can see this being a verbose replacement for that LED that blinks "morse code" error codes.

I also prefer large displays but it seems like this product is mainly aimed at teaching labs, where expense and bench space may limit the amount of equipment that each student can use (and that's probably a significant market).

What sparked my interest is that I'm currently breadboarding a system that has four serial ports and it might be nice to replace at least some of the associated test PC 'terminals' with these board-mounted modules, provided I can read such small displays.
