Must be something simple; no download on 28X/40X proto-board

Hi,

If you're reading this - thank you! :)

I'm having problems getting any communication between PC and 28X/40X protoboard AXE022P (which I bought from techsupplies pre-assembled).

I'm using a new 40X1 part inserted the right way round. The only thing added to the protoboard are a few turned pin headers on the in/out ports.

It must be something simple - I hope

Tests done already as follows:
Software latest version - ok. Ver 5.2.0
Reset pressed and released 1sec after download - ok. Still no comms.
5V - ok. less than 10mV pk-pk ripple from Melcher switchmode PSU.
Power jumper position on protoboard - ok. set for external psu.
0,+V on board - ok. 0V/5V at correct positions on protoboard.
PC comport connections - ok. level changes visible on download cable on scope.
Xtal oscillation - ok. Visible on scope.

It may be that the next step (when time permits) is to put the 40X1 on a breadboard with minimal circuit and see if it communicates.

Any comments/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Regards
Michael

From the AXE22 datasheet

When used with an external battery or regulated 5V supply, jumper J3 must be in
the left hand position. In this case the supply voltage (connected to connector
CT2) is applied directly to all components on the protoboard.
When used with an external 9V DC regulated supply (connected to connector
CT2), a 78L05 regulator must be soldered in position RG1 and the jumper link J3
completely removed. The 78L05 provides a regulated 5V supply to the
components on the board (maximum current capacity 100mA).

Try putting all three jumpers to the left (default) and using 4.5 V from batteries.

Hi Eclectic,

Moved jumpers 1 and 2 as well and all working now. :D

I thought it must be something simple!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

Kind regards
Michael
