Might be a cool PICAXE project

When I saw the URL, I was prepared to laugh, since this kid was all about charging capacitor banks then seeing what kind of mayhem a sudden pulse discharge could create ( a few years ago). I see he's gotten past that stage . . .

That's sexy. Not just for a clock, but as a display. Indoor outdoor temps with differentials displayed with colors, tachometer with shifting and torque curves displayed, etc..

And the laser cut plywood? I really want one of those machines.

About as cheap as you can buy - Around £2000 I believe -We find that cutting plywood depends a lot on the glue they have used. Some cuts fine but some is almost un-cuttable.

Contacting your local school may bring some hope as many have lasers and may cooperate if your project will be interesting to the kids.

I wish my school could afford one, though it would probably just end up like the CNC...rarely used and never used to its potential.

I wonder if it could do PCBs, expensive compared to basic etching though...
The laser cannot remove the copper, but there is a web site where someone first applied black paint and used the laser to remove the paint to create a resist mask.
