I am having fun using picaxe18m2 .
I have played many tunes using this micro-controller and a piezo buzzer
but the problem is ... the output sound is very low...
I want to amplify this volume to play tunes very loud...
I have used a Computer Sound Amplifier for just such purpose. (The kind that you plug into your computer sound card) They have a very nice stereo sound, can be quite powerfull and readily avalable. And they can be cheap to get. I have picked them up at swap meets for a few bucks. For your purpose you might use an Stereo jack with both channels strapped together to provide a Mono sound.
