Help with programming editor

im programming a 28x1 chip but i cant seem to get the brackets to work in my maths sections tit always says syntax error, any help appreciated

They are not yet supported, I think they will appear after V5.3 comes out.

If you look at the software page of the PICAXE home site and look at the "latest version details" link (http://www.rev-ed.co.uk/revision.txt) you will see that the use of brackets is still not functional, even though the manual mentions the possibility of use

they are shown to be supported in manuel 2 page 21

Manual 2 Rev 6.7 on page does also state:

"This manual was prepared using version 5.2.3 of the Programming Editor
software."

Programming Editor V5.2.3 (and 5.3.0) is yet to be released.

Funnily an earlier version of the Manual had mentioned version 5.3.0 as I queried it at the time.
