Gear Clock Project

Hi

I have very limited experience of PICAXE and indeed electronics, but I am wishing to have a go at a gear clock powered by servos or stepper motors, which inturn requires some form of controller.

I've seen some quite old posts within this forum on similar clocks, but wonder what the "latest" is in terms of controller boards / chips and code?

The type of clock I am talking about is shown

Any help would be fantastic - remember to use easy speak rather than be over technical!!

Thanks in anticipation

I would think steppers far more practical for this purpose, no power consumption or glitches between "ticks".

With little idea what old posts you are looking at, I can generalise that not much changes for driver chips etc.
