Another RTC alternative with 2/4kbytes of FRAM

Trolling the Maxim website found they have another RTC that may be of interest to many.
The Maxim DS32B35/DS32C35 accurate real-time clocks (RTC) are clock/calendars that include an integrated temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO), crystal, and a bank of nonvolatile memory (FRAM) in a single package. The nonvolatile memory is available in two densities: 2 kBytes and 8kBytes.

It comes in an SOIC20 surface mount package, designed to operate from 3.3V and (just for BCJKiwi) it includes two, yes two, Time-of-Day alarms.

Of the 20 pins, the “top” 12 96 per side) are used and strangely ther are two i2c clock pins but a single data pin.
Datasheet at: http://datasheets.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/DS32B35-DS32C35.pdf

Prices in quantities of 1000 are around US$4 and US$5 each

Would certainly solve the RAM memory shortage for PICAXE systems

Very interesting! The clock part seems essentially to be the DS1337 part (my favorrite clock chip, as it has two alarms with INT outputs as well as low Vcc operation). I'll check out htis device, thanks

I've used the DS3232 in a PIC project and it is superb. Being able to extract temp info is very useful.
