the following is an idea to promote
understanding of what people post here.

the circuit being worked on can be sketched and scanned with my HP PSC F340 & saved in any of 13 formats. including *.jpg and *.pdf it is desired to be able to include a picture of the circuit with the posting.

this way everyone interested can see it.

a picture is worth a thousand words.

can graphics be included with the text on this forum ?

Bob - we'd all like this, but it's a "not yet". Most of us simply upload pix to a hosting site etc & then forum "tag" reference it from here. Hence see a DIY editing lead => www.picaxe.orcon.net.nz/pickahu.jpg External Web Link

Suitable image hosting sites abound- do a Google? As a quickee trail I've just used http://tinypic.com to easily upload a stepper motor pix that happened to be at hand. No registration needed (although unsure re IP address issues etc), so a no brainer task! See it at => http://i4.tinypic.com/10zairs.jpg External Web Link

You can also post to the "PICAXE_Ciruits" group on Yahoo.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PICAXE_circuits/

External Web Link

It is archive only, no discussions allowed, for anything that cannot be physically posted here.

I think the forum is better without pictures, it keeps it clean and quick - like stan said, you can always upload to spot of free webspace.

Maybe I should come out of the dark ages and get broadband?!

I dont mind the idea of no pictures, but i do like the avatar option that phpbb2 has, it makes it much easier to remember people. I'm really bad at names. And theres alyways the option to let people find theyre own webspace to host theyre avatar on. that way rev-ed dosent waste any webspace or bandwidth

Also, i like theyre being a post count.. theres two reasons for this:
A) Lets posters know who is the most experenced with these issues
B) Lets postees get rewarded with new status titles.

that being said, i have no issues with this forum. its quite nice.

does the administor of this site ever read these boards?

Your Q: ”does the administor of this site ever read these boards?”

A: You’d better believe it –they read every word!
And they’re very responsive too! (Example: A recent detailed response made on a Sunday!)

And yes, it sure is a nice site. And it’s also been announced that a new system is under development with more features. Let’s just hope it doesn’t gain more clutter, & lose the high readability that this current arrangement has...

And status titles, argh.. who wants that..!

PS: post counts are already available on the screen you are currently viewing

On the whole I do find this a nicely laid out forum with little clutter. I have some picky issues with the way the forum works, but they really are minor.

I don't like avatars and overly long, pointless or inane signatures which just leads to clutter. Avatars are invariable copyright images used without permission, and signature lines are more often than not copied from someone else. This is after all a technical and not a chat forum, and content is far more important than 'style'.
