Lets face it a programming alarm light came on several times during the decent and mission control just said reset, (sounds like Winxxx & MS are operated by NASA), continue.

In fact they NASA were quoted after as saying - "...in training we were keyed towards abort in the case of errors and alarms - on the mission we were keyed towards land."

Or words to that effect. I guess it's a long way to go to pot a new relay in place and there were lots of them in the lander!!!
