28x2 Shield Question

Can anyone tell me the max current allowable through the Vin(9-12v) pin on the header on an Axe401 Board?
If i am using it to power something on a shield,and using the vin plug connector to power everything.

Isn't it a standard 2.1mm socket, if so I would work to not much more than 1A, what is your requirement? If it's like 10-Amps then forget it

Also, where is this current going? If you are taking it off the 5v line, then you need to consider the power dissipation in the regulator long before you burn anything out due to current down tracks etc.

These identical DC jacks are rated for 1A at 12V.

But if you're using anything more than 300mA, then a 7805 with no additional heatsink is unsuitable (I'd say it's unsuitable anyway!) so it would be a good idea to replace it with a switching regulator.
