AXE134Y driver code

This may be a really dumb question: if so, please forgive me.

The sample programs that come with the pe6 editor jump from AXE133 to AXE135. Does this mean that the driver code on the 18M2 that comes with the AXE133Y 20x4 OLED display has not been published anywhere? Or if it has, where? Or are we expected to use the AXE133 code, suitably modified?

I appreciate that the AXE134Y works 'out of the box' (unless you muddle your 18M2 chips!), but I want to make some small mods, such as disabling the startup message.

Thanks in advance.

RevEd publish the 18M2 code for both their AXE133Y & AXE134Y oled modules under the "Resources" tab for each hardware module on their picaxe.com website.

You can download the code that RevEd use to program the 18M2 chip on the AXE134Y module using the "AXE134Y Firmware File" link on this page:

To disable the startup message comment out this line in that program:
#define use_welcome ; display the welcome message upon power up

Indeed, as Flenser showed, the code is available and modifiable.

And if you are willing to modify the interface between the Picaxe-module and the display (from 8-bit to 4-bit) you will be able to change it from "A display with a computer" to " A computer with a display". Thus the display unit can be made much more flexible than just being a display unit. See the following link: https://picaxeforum.co.uk/threads/improving-the-axe133-oled-firmware.29710/#post-339628
My implementation uses only PortB pins B.0, B.5, B.6 and B.7 (so only four out of eight picaxe PortB pins), so that on the other four pins functionalities like PWM, I2C, extra ADC channels and interrupt functionality are freely available for the AXE133/134Y Board to do other useful stuff in the same or different project. A user can change this configuration at will. In this way the display unit becomes a useful, configurable Picaxe computer itself.

Bravo – thanks guys.

Flenser – stupid of me not to look there, but I am sure I would have. Maybe it's only been added recently. Or maybe my brain needs oiling.

Jurgen – this sounds very clever, possibly too clever for me. (Wouldn't be hard.) But I am just using the AXE134 for its design purposes in this project.
