I am not sure where to start with this post because I have just joined this site, so I will just try to spell it out as simply as I can.
My hobby is making skeleton electric clocks that are driven by a pendulum which is excited by a coil. It is a simple system.
I am interested in trying to make a clock that uses is an electric motor rather than a coil but still employs wheels (gears) to make it look interesting.
I need a method to control the electric motor and a member of another site I am on suggested that picaxe chips is the way to go. I have limited mount of experience with electronics, just enough to make my electric clocks. I have no experience with programming.
I am currently working my way through the picaxe manual but would be grateful if somebody could suggest the best place for a novice to start.
It is a very long time since somebody suggested I was a spring chicken.
