I had a hard time finding a good subsitute for the discontinued Panasonic PNA4602 IR reciever that was readiliy availble. I just wanted to post so that other people looking might find this. The Vishay TSOP 4038 is a pin matching replacement. It is however reversed on the output (the signal goes low when a 38 kHz signal is dectected with the TSOP 4038, It goes high on the PNA4602). The TSOP 4038 is available from Newark in North America and I believer from Farnell in the UK.
