Yes, I use the same model. What a daft place to put the card-reader! I was thinking of an sd card extender to bring the reader out front.
It seems files can be transferred between a laptop's USB3 port and the printer's USB C port. I'll give it a try if I can get my hands on a suitable cable.
I did read somewhere that connecting a PC directly to the printer can lead to overheating on big jobs because the PC is constantly connecting to the printer. Something to be aware of.
 
The USB cable works. I did a 5 minute print of an M4 wingnut with no trouble. I'll do progressively bigger print jobs, watching for any overheating.

To avoid any issues with connecting 2 USB power supplies together, evidently the PC can sometimes power the Ender display even when it is turned off, I used these

I'm interested in your GUI, where's the blog ?
