PICAXE - STAMP Comparison

Hi there, I am new to PICAXE and was wondering how close the sytax is to Basic Stamp. This is something I am considering for high school pupils and wondered whether PICAXE would be a suitable precurser to Basic Stamp which they use as a curriculum requirement in later years.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

The PICAXE language is almost 100% identical to that of the BS1, and includes a great many enhancements. Being an entirely single chip design, with much lower cost, and for many other reasons, it is IMO far superior to all versions of Parallax's BS1.

The PICAXE language is as far from that used for the BS2's as the BS1's is, so I guess how suitable the PICAXE is depends on whether you use BS1's or BS2's in your later curriculum. If you are using BS1's later, I'd suggest throwing them out and going solely with the PICAXE
