Googling with the keywords "train DCC Picaxe" might give you a number of results in english and in french.

You won't find much on here for DCC, PICAXE just isn't fast enough.

Are any of these specifically for a loco decoder?

With this link for an older project, Can I use updated ;smd for both chips and make a new pcb (smaller than old one) and run the pic code as provided originally for the project?
Your comments would be appreciated. If you think feasible I will give it a try.
