Ok, so I buy a AXE027 USB to serial cable. Looks nothing special, but then I plug it in and the PC knows it's an AXE027 cable !! How on earth does it know that? (I'm ignorant to USB and I guess there's in-built electronics in the cable but it just looks a normal cable).

Works well for me too. I've just upgraded to Vista but the XP driver seems to work fine.

Seriously, any advantages apart from Schoolboy animated graphics? I can appreciate possible goodies for the newest and future PCs, but anything now?
Many IT 'experts' say wait a few months....
