Help! Can't access PICAXE forum!

Hi all.

I have Orange Broadband, and as of a few days ago, I found I couln't access this forum. Firefox came up with a Network Timeout. I tried on other computers on the same network, and none of them can access this site.

I then tried using a proxy, and it works. So it appears that my broadband won't connect to this page?

I am also unable to complete a maxim sample order - maybe this page is being blocked as well?

Any ideas?

Can you access the main picaxe website though ?

I suggest you use the trace command to see at which hop the website is "blocked". Compare your results with other functioning sites to see the difference

For windows based os systems, in the command prompt:
tracert picaxeforum.co.uk
tracert picaxe.co.uk

hmm - have you tried pinging the website to see if it resolves the domain name into an ip address ? It might be (though i doubt it) that your broadband router might have incorrect DNS settings.

failing that, try http://195.74.60.76/ to test the above theory - if that works then its prob a DNS problem.

Pinging 195.74.60.76 times out.

When I ping picaxeforum.co.uk, it works out it is 195.74.60.76, and then times out.

Going to http://195.74.60.76/ doesn't work either - it comes up with the network timout.

Thanks for your time!

I cant understand why an ISP would want to block that particular IP address. Did a little googling and it does not seem to be blacklisted either.

I imagine that your network setup is [home computers] -> [router/switch] -> broadband modem ?

If that is the case, connect one of the computers straight to the broadband modem to eliminate your internal router, and try again.

The modem is in the route. I imagine it is one of the router/modem settings - I tried resetting the router and modem, but this didn't help.

If I can't fix it, I'll give Orange a phone call.
