GLCD bargain but obsolete?

There's a terrific deal on the led042 graphic display. It's quite old tech but at £6.50!

Trouble is that the manuals describe using GLICTalk-K software to transfer bitmaps from a PC to the device's EEPROM but there's no trace of that software on the RevEd site or anywhere else according to Google.

Does anyone either know where I might get hold of GLICTalk-K or (far less desirable) know the format used to store bitmaps in the EEPROM so I could perhaps roll my own?

Thanks, Derek

Go to the product page as if you were going to buy GLCD

Click on the "Examples and Manuals" link

A zip file called glictalk.zip will silently download to windows download area.

I use "edge" browser and a pop-up window appears showing the new download. Presumably different browsers will behave differently

No;I linked that zip file in the original post. It contains 2 picaxe programs and 2 pdfs. I can't see any PC software in there.

Hi,

I think GLIKTALK-K might only run on something between Windows 95 and XP (which I can still use if necessary). Some of our Australian members seem much more proficient (than I) in using "The Wayback Machine", perhaps they can help? ;)

Cheers, Alan.

I've got an XP machine standing by. I tried the Wayback Machine and found the instructions for GLICtalk but they are available in the zip file. I'll hope for an antipodean miracle overnight.

Not sure if product LED043 is the same thing as GLICTALK, but LED043 seems to be available to buy in New Zealand for crazy money.

https://www.sicom.co.nz/displays-and-drivers-xidg10998.html

Don't think I want to spend 58 NZ dollars on the off-chance.
They only seem to sell within NZ anyway - assuming this business still exists

Found this page that mentions LED043:
https://picaxe.com/hardware/add-on-modules/serial-graphic-lcd-glcd-module/

Oh well - I will keep looking

EDIT: Found another seller for LED043..
https://www.solarbotics.com/product/28635

I think I will wait for Tech Support to weigh in on this thread before searching more

Thanks administrator :)

Seems to work fine on Windows 10 and hardware serial port

Graphic Test works perfectly. Backlight on is good. Bitmap store and display is good

Have not tried USB serial yet, but so far this utility seems great.

Many thanks
