I have a couple of suggestions to enhance the Editor;
First to allow interaction with other editor such as ConTEXT http://www.context.cx (freeware) this would allow Code highlighting as well as other automation feature. (Less work than improving the built in edito)
Second to strip out the Compile and Download sections so third parties can produce alternative front ends.
