There are pages and pages of them. All totally incomprehensible. A bit like the instructions for programming a VCR...

Years ago when touring around Queensland (Australia), as I drove out to a tourist attraction on edge of town (The Venus State Gold Battery) , we were confronted with a large roadside sign proclaiming:

“This is NOT the road to Townsville, Ayr, Ravenswood, Hughenden”

I think it actually had a few more town names on it as well.

But absolutely no reference to where the road actually went

Have a photo that I took, but have not looked for it.

That road goes for about 100km and ends up at Lake Dalrymple westaus...

By the time most people figure that out they are 50km on the way to nowhere. I lived in Townsville for 5 years until february.
