AXE033 backlight - anyone added one?

I'd be keen to hear from anyone who may have figured out how to add a backlight to the AXE033 LCD module. I'd like to light up my display if it can be done with minimal risk of breaking, cooking, bending, or otherwise munting the lovely module.

thanks!

Farnell sells backlight modules for LCDs, albeit they are somewhat pricey...

The LCDs I have just require the back tabs to be bent to their straight positions in order for the LCD bezel to be removed. The LCD itself can then be removed and then the backlight installed. The only problem I see is that most LCDs use a conductive rubber strip to send signals from the controller to the "contacts" on the LCD - adding a backlight may prevent the strip providing proper connection doe to the modul's new higher profile.

On the side - does anyone know where to get those conductive rubber strips?
