Hello all

I saw these on ebay and so I thought time to play with wireless :)

http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Quasar__W0QQ_armrsZ1

I've got 2 x QAM RX4, 2 x QAM TX1 and 2 x QAM TX3

The size of the TX3 is smaller than the photo !

I think I'm going to use that, with a surface mount 08M, a DS18B20 and a 2032, to make some temperature monitoring socks for the wife, to PROVE she has cold feet :D

How much is P&P from that Ebay supplier? Delivery times? Returns efficiency?

I only ask as those modules are slightly more expensive direct from Quasar, minimum order is £20 and P&P is £2.95 for UK buyers.
.... and they are, based on previous experience, very good with returns/support.

Obv the circumstances are different for non-UK people.

I ordered on sunday and got them on wednesday.

Postage was £1 + £0.05 for each of the same type.

BUT..... the name of the company on ebay is...........Quasar.........

Perhaps let us all know how they work out. I half suspect they'll be quite low power & ranges may not be the best. In general (on the 433 MHz ISM band), AM units will be inferior to FM types- rather reflected in their EBay pricing!

Yes, I'd like to know perfromance too.

For an extra quid you could have had superior FM versions.

Was price the main (or only) criterion?

It's hard to justify spending money on FM versions when they are just for experimenting/stocking up parts drawers.

I'll let you know how they are when they arrive.

As I see it, QUAZAR UK have both AM (ASK) and FM (FSK) on ebay:

AM Radio Transmitter Module QAM-TX1 433MHz ASK £2.50

AM Radio Receiver Module QAM-RX4 433MHz ASK £5.00

FM Radio Transmitter Module QFM-TX1 433MHz FSK SMT £5.50

FM Radio Receiver Module QFM-RX1 433MHz FSK £7.00

Yes, i get the point.

I just hope you don't run low on range and think 'If only I'd spent the extra quids..' :)

Probably be fine for short range, let us know how it goes.

Meanwhile I'll spend even more quids and have RSSI.

Any idea what form/length the (FM if it makes any diiference, but I doubt it) aerial needs to be?

If I only wanted, say, 3m range, would no aerial at all work? Or just a short piece of damp'ish string?

For the initial project, ( the temperature monitoring socks ) range isnt really a problem ( from one end of the bed to a bedside table ), but size is. Hence the TX1 to breadboard/proof of concept and the TX3 for fixing in the socks.

When I'm home, I even warm her side of the bed first, but I work shift and am away from home a lot of the time :(
