4.1.8 Serial Terminal Error

When I try to run the Teminal I get this error:

Runtime error '8005':
Port already open

It did open the first time I opened it, now even after rebooting windows XP it still shows error.

This happens after switching to 19200 baud rate.

I am getting this same error as well! All the prev versions of the software have worked fine!

Does anybody/or technical have a link where I can re-download Programming Editor 4.16 until these issues have been resolved?

A few users have reported this but we cannot duplicate the error on any of our test machines. We have uploaded a small beta with additional port checking at

External Web Link

and would be grateful if people could report whether this resolves the issue!

Hi Technical

4.1.9
Appears to be working on my windows home XP system.

4.1.8
Serial Terminal puts up error ‘8005’ when changing baud rate from 2400 to any other rate then close and reopen PICAXE Programmer editor. Then you get the error when trying to use Serial Terminal.

Thanks for the quick fix now all I need is the patch in the form of an update.
