"2-2 Phase excitation (Unipolar driving)"

I am trying to connect a stepper motor (Mitsumi M42SP-5, datasheet at
http://www.mitsumi.co.jp/Catalog/compo/motor/m42sp5_e.html) to a PICAXE 18X. I am confused--the motor has only four wires, and according to the PICAXE interfacing manual, this should be a bipolar stepper motor. However, the data sheet says that the excitation method is "2-2 Phase excitation (Unipolar driving)", which suggests that somehow unipolar driving is possible, and e.g., a ULN2803 can be used to drive it. I've tried searching on the Internet (including this forum) for more information on this type of excitation method. I could not find anything relevant (or I did not recognize it as being relevant). Help, clarification, schematics appreciated.
