Which picaxe 08m chip to buy?

Hi, I went to microchip.com and I was looking for a pic12f683, but when I found it there were 10 different kinds to buy. What is the difference between I/P, I/MF, Etc.

1. I take it you didn't read the Data Sheet?
(Packages / case styles / spec level ...)
2. A bare 12F683 is not an 08M.

I hope some kind soul has the time to describe firmware.

The PICAXE-08M is based upon a Microchip device but Microchip don't manufacture or supply PICAXE chips. Try here instead ...
