I have a 08M sending information to a 28X1 using SEROUT / SERIN, and the timeout setting works great - so long as the two picaxes stay connected. As soon as the connection is broken (unplugging one from the other) the 28X1 hangs, due to what I can only guess is the floating nature of the pin.
I know there are other options for dealing with this scenario such as using the hserin to the scratchpad or setting an interrupt, etc- but is there some other way to keep it from hanging? Maybe a 10k pulldown resistor (using N1200) or something that will keep the pin from floating and registering serial communication that isn't really present?
