I am attempting to increase the range of a telemetry link by using a radio repeater. The HC-12 based environmental monitoring module is designed to operate for a year from 4 AA batteries. This is easily achieved by powering down the sensors and the HC-12, and allowing the PICAXE to sleep between transmissions. Each transmission is only a few seconds long, at a rate of once every ten minutes.
The problem is, that without the complexity of independent time synchronisation, a battery powered HC-12 based repeater would have to remain permanently on (and drawing about 20mA) whilst listening for telemetry transmissions. I have not been able to find a reference to any low power receive only modes of operation in the HC-12 documentation. Has anyone found a way to do this?
