GBX008 Stepper Motor

The specifications for the GBX008 Stepper motor do not give any vital measurements for its shaft diameter.

Also, can it be used with any of the wheels, gears and worm drives in the PICAXE Store.

Any advice would be helpful.

OK : judging from the spec sheet this suggest that the GBX008 Stepper Motor is capable of 'Hybrid' Bipolar use. This should be possible by leaving the Black and White positive connections 'floating', then treating the two pairs of winding together each pair as one winding. Each can then driven bi-directionally from an L293D or L298D.

One component I have noticed absent from the PicAxe motor drive units are diodes to protect the L293D from any 'back emf' from the stepper motor coils.

The "D" indicates that the diodes are included in the L293D chips.
