Hi Guys
I am working on a small project just now .Do any of the forum members know where I could purchase 5 volt multi pole relays in the UK please
I know how to get round my problem by using a single pole relay to switch 12 volt multi pole relays.
I would prefer however just to use 5 volts for all circuitry

Thanks

These cheap DPDT 5V relays are breadboard-friendly. Nice tight fit. I quick tested one unit: Coil 122 ohms, draws 41 mA at 5V. It also clicked readily on 2.67V (old AAs), where it drew 21 mA.

My favorite DPDT relays are NAIS/Aromat TF2-5V, if you can find those. Under 20 mA coil current at 5V, so you can power them directly from a Picaxe output pin, no driver transistor. Plus they have a built-in flyback diode and they fit into a DIP socket.

Hi,

It depends very much on how many poles you need and the contact rating. Generally, it will need a buffer transistor (and a "flywheel" diode across the coil).

There should be lots on ebay.co.uk, but you may need to wait for a delivery from China, so I usually start with CPC (note there is a "sort from lowest price" icon, which can save some time). Sadly their unlimited free shipping offer has finsished, but you should be able to find plenty of items of interest for the required £6 (inc VAT).

Cheers, Alan.
