Cursor moving right

With an Axe 027 trying to program an 18 standard board the cursor keeps moving to the right on my screen, pull it left it goes to the right on its own.

Tried two different leads three different com ports. Restarted the PC several times.

Left it for ten minutes and everything was fine, board programmed no problem.

What was I doing wrong?

It is possible that Windows has detected the AXE027 or some other hardware as a pointer or mouse device.

This usually happens when a PC is turned on and some serial activity is detected which Windows decides indicates the presence of a serial mouse or similar pointing device. It can happen when the PC is turned on, an AXE027 or RS232 cable is connected, and the PICAXE is outputting serial or debug data.

There are details from Microsoft on how to disable such detections -

I have had very similar to that, the mouse pointer was leaping around all over the screen.

Solution - boot up PC with axe027 NOT connected to PICAXE chip.
