Hi guys,
Im building a simple low water detector for my water tank and want it to notify me when its low via an sms.
Can you interface a 3g usb dongle to a picaxe?

You would need a USB Master, not something a PICAXE can do/become.
If a Nokia phone is not in your reach, suggest you get a cellular modem module. They are easy to interface to using simple serial based AT commands.

Would that work here in aus as 3g here is 850 and 2100mhz.
I could not get the TC35 to work on Aus networks. If you want to be sure in Aus follow the mobile network interfacing project in Silicon Chip a couple of months ago. It makes use of a Seeed module.

Note that the Australian mobile networks are phasing out GSM (Ie 2G). So your solution needs to use 3G (LTE) as a minimum (which is what you specified).

I need something that will work on our 3G band once 2g finishes here. Seeed uses a sim900 chip which is predominantly a 2g chip. It does not support 2100mhz which is 3G as 850 will be reframed for 4g. I need to find a 3G module that will work once 2g stops. Any one know of one?
