PICAXE not taking download!

Hello Everyone!!

Well I bought some PICAXE chips I while ago and I have not been able to use them successfully. Heres my problem: I hooked a 18M2 chip up just like the manual said and I hooked the AXE027 download cable up to it and when I tried to download a program it gave this error: "Error Hardware not found on COM6!"(see attached photo). I tried to download it with COM1 and COM3 but got the same result. I thought the cable might be bad so I ran the test that was on the editor and I found that the cable works fine. I took photos of the error message and the way I have the circuit laid out. I measured the voltage going to the 18M2 and it was 5VDC. Please help!! I don't know what to do.

Thanks for the help Everyone!!

Dan

The capacitor does not look like 100nF - is it?

Also you may have the serial in/out reversed

A photo of the complete board would be a good start I think.
I, for one, cannot see the values of the resistors so just assuming they are correct, most looks ok.
