A cheap embedded audio module(not the SOMO 14D or TDB380)...

This module is SLIGHTLY larger and more expensive then the SOMO 14D, but comes complete with a 1GB card, so you don't have to try to find one that works, as you tend to have to do with the SOMO module.

It is essentially the same hardware as the SOMO, just another version of it.

Drives speaker directly too. Plug and play. Cool.

Yeah, essentially, it is a SOMO clone, but not actually a SOMO module.
I like the idea on this module, that they supply a uSD card known to work with it, saving you any hassle in that respect.

In fact, they are very open about it all:

"The WTV020-SD chip that is used is a little picky about the type of micro-SD card that is used - so to solve that problem, we've included a 1Gb micro-SD card. "

In fact, the SOMO module has it's chip ID ground off, so now we know what chip is in it...

"...chip ID ground off..."

Like discarded ring-pulls, this will, thousands of years from now, identify a 'layer' in history.
