Can anyone help me with some info on encoders, and how to interface them with a 28x Picaxe.
The project is a universal serial remote control. It has a 4 line Serial LCD screen with 4 buttons on each side to select an atribute to adjust. The adjustment (increment or decrement) will be done with an Alps encoder.(http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/5216.pdf)
Which input pins would be most suited for the encoder?
The encoder outputs two square waves, leading or trailing each other, depending on the direction. I assume the period is dependant on the speed of the rotation.
Any hints on how I could deal with this in the code.
