    Question on Relay rating..

When a relay is rated 12V, does that mean 12V is the maximum voltage that should be supplied or does it mean it needs a supply voltage of 12V? Sorry, googled for it, but I guess I'm not googling correctly... :(

    Of Darlingtons and motor drivers...

Quick question on Darlington IC.. I have the Picaxe 28x project board which comes with the Darlington IC and a socket for a Motor driver IC. If I use the motor driver, it uses output pins 4-7 from the Picaxe to drive the motors. Can I use both the Darlington IC and the motor driver IC...

    Bypassing Darlington

Hello! I have the 28X project board which comes with the Darlington chip. Using the project board, is there a way to bypass the darlington chip for some connections? Sure I can remove the D. chip and insert 330 resistors to complete the holes left by the D chip, which I don't want to do and I...

Simple circuit, can someone debug this for me?

I connected the QRB1134, an ir led/photo transistor pair to the 28x project board based on this circuit diagram: Used this code: main: b0 = pin3 sertxd (#b0,13,10) pause 100 goto main And here's my actual connection: But the value I get is always 0. Better resolution and different angles...

    Programmatically reversing polarity

If say I have a simple blinking LED set up using Picaxe 28, is it possible to programatically reverse the polarity of the pins? For example if the LED displays one color with one polarity and another (bi polar) with another...?

Picaxe starter kit board to breadboard connections

Paging electronics gurus! What is a good way to connect inputs/outputs from the picaxe 28x starterkit board to a breadboard? Using the supplied ribbons make the breadboard end of the connection quite awkward. I simply separated and split the ribbon wire at the breadboard end. Is there a...

Anyone here from World Educational Services AKA Advanced Micro?

I ordered some stuff from these guys more than a week back... haven't heard back from them. All emails go unanswered. Phone goes to voice mail. These guys are so frustrating. I got my picaxe, but can't use it till I get the USB cable and of all vendors I had to use WES to order my cable.

    Serial cable annoyance

I received my picaxe 28x starter kit, I was all set to experiment (been waiting eagerly for the weekend, resurrected my old laptop with serial port...), when I tried on the serial cable, I realized it has a female connector, same as my laptop. I need to get a gender changer. Why isn't this...

Very basic electronics q: Jumper cables

What kind/type of jumper cables should I get to work with the 28x starter kit and a breadboard? Would this be fine? http://www.roboticsconnection.com/p-31-12-jumper-wires-male-to-female.aspx I was thinking of getting these jumper cables with this breadboard...

    Picaxe shopping list

Hello folks! After researching most microcontrollers for a beginner, I decided on the Picaxe28 to get started. What would you recommend I get along with the picaxe starter kit (which already has the cable, MC board and battery pack)? Do I also need to get a 5V regulator?
