    Ultrasonic receiver

Another one of my random questions i'm afraid! I'm attempting to make a DIY bat detector, however at the moment I can only find various ultrasonic receivers set to dedicated frequencies. Is anybody aware of any receivers that can detect over a broader range of frequencies? Thanks, Leon

    Hobby oscilloscope

Hi, Sorry if this is not directly related to the PICAXE itself but I was wondering if anybody could recommend an independent unit based (not PC software/USB) budget oscilloscope for hobby electronics? I'm mainly interested in looking at the output signal for servos and RC control gear, I...

    Voltage 11.1v to 4.5v circuit

One of my boring questions i'm afraid! I would like to try and power my project from a 11.1v lipo (RC) battery, they are generally rated at about 2300mah. I've designed my project to work on 4.5v, although 5v should be fine aswell. Am I best to just use the standard picaxe power supply circuit...

    Inverter circuit

I've done some research and it appears that the best solution for my project is to use some form of an inverter IC... What i'm trying to do is use more than 1 IR receiver on 1 input pin. As i've said in other posts i'm a bit of an electronics noob (but learning quickly and enjoying it!). The...

    A little IR help

http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?CMP=i-ddd7-00001003&sku=2251454 It says viewing angle is 44deg, half sensitivity angle is 22deg. I have a different IR LED to try using the transistor as well (from tech supplies) so that's something to retest in the daylight, although I can't...

08m2+ , high and low seem inverted?

I've been having some odd results with my 08 chip, the setup is literally a IR LED on pin 1 with a 330r resistor (I use a camera to look at it). Upload blank code, the IR LED is off. Upload : high 1 and the IR LED is off... Upload: low 1 and the IR LED is on!! Is this because the pins...

    A little IR help

Hi guys, I am in need of a little help in regards to getting a basic IR send/receive system working (well the electronics specifically). I currently have the 28x project board, I have used IR range sensors, servos, motors and LEDS with no problems, i'm just a little confused about the IR part...

    Motor Driver and relays

Hi Guys, I just started playing about with my 28x project board again. I've combined it with a servo, IR range sensor and 2 lego motors, obviously the 3xAA batterys do power the motors, but not amazingly. It drains them quickly aswell it seems. The motors from what i gather are 9v, does...

    Easy Radio (PC)

Im looking at gettting 2 Easy Radio Transceivers at some point soon. The plan is to connect the picaxe020 board to one, and one module to a PC. Doing this will allow me to write the AI/Logic on a PC, and use the picaxe to carry out the commands, such as move, return the data from sensors etc...

    Regulator or resistor (newbie)

Hi, My robot is slowly building up and im learning alot about electronics by doing it (which is a good thing). I've made a circuit for powering the picaxe board from an AC adapter using the example within the AXE020 manual to save on batteries. It uses a regulator which seems to do the job...

    PCB Component help

Hi! I have done a quick search, but im not having much luck finding the product im after (I don't know what they are called). Basically, I need to solder some extra pins onto my AXE020 board for the motor controller. What are these pins called? (PCB Pins?), what size? 1mm? I think I found...

    AXE020 + Serial LCD

Hi, I have a Serial LCD here which I used to connect to a PC, using the serial port. It has 3 pins, GND, +5v and Signal. I connected GND to GND, +5 to V and signal to output pin 0. I then used the commands:- serout 0,t2400,("hello") and serout,n2400,("hello") . What is n and t? Also...

    A little electronics help

Hi , this is my first post and reading through the forum it looks like a nice friendly community! I knew roughly how simple robots and basic AI worked, but i've always lacked skills in electronics (I can program fine in various languages). Recently I stumbled across various controllers and...
