How to return the Editor to default settings?

Impressive sleuthing, Gramps! You should apply for Hippy's open position. :)

quick question on letpins and simulator

I forget, with Picaxe do you need to specify the pins as outputs before using pinsb? Using either output or.dirs command. Or was that BASIC Stamp...? Also try outpinsb, that may be sufficient.

    Hippy Version 3.0

We love Hippy in all versions! Enjoy retirement but don't stray too far Brother man! You have always been an inspiration to me and many others here. Hope to see you continue to weigh in and contribute mightily as the incredible resource you have always been.

Learning from Arduino. Three LCD Libraries for the M2 & X2 chips

Flenser, you sir are a credit to the forum! Thanks for your dedication to rectifying this issue. It's true that cheap, abundant LCDs are a PITA with Picaxe. Surprising that Rev-Ed hasn't jumped on this problem. I don't have time to dive into this right now but hopefully folks will benefit from...

How do i create a HOLD-in button function?

I do love a good hardware solution alternative. Full marks, bpowell! The only thing better would include a 555 timer. :)

    6174-Kaprekar's Constant

Way to dive in, Team Picaxe! This thread is drawing some eyes with serious talent. Nice to see interest and various approaches. Mods, maybe you should throw out a monthly challenge along these lines.

    6174-Kaprekar's Constant

A lovely solution, Aries. Great job! I'll have to get back to my unfinished code, hopefully not stealing too much from yours. :)

    6174-Kaprekar's Constant

Just saw this interesting math process which always converges on the value 6174. Might make a good learning challenge for Picaxe students to teach data input and sorting. Certainly a piece of cake for us Picaxe fanboys! Code could be run in the simulator without any Picaxe hardware at all...

    Parallel Tasks

Touch pads are interesting, but a project in themselves to calibrate. The values returned by TOUCH will vary with environmental conditions and will vary wildly when the programming cable is disconnected. They are interesting to play with, to use in a project they need to self-calibrate instead...

    Windows 11 update

No knocking perceived.😀 Many of us here are old cheapskates who love, celebrate and maintain our vintage tech. " You can pry it out of my cold dead hands..." 😆

    Windows 11 update

Click "Reply" (next to "Like") to quote someone's post. My desktop was an older refurb when I got it ~2015, harkening back to simpler days when all computers had serial ports. Bought for $50 on Ebay, free shipping, it came with Windows 10 installed. Still works fine, best money I ever spent.

    Windows 11 update

My main desktop at work has a real serial port and Windows 10, works great. I doubt if any of the newer hardware for Windows 11 (8th gen or newer Intel processor) has a real serial port. Something has to give.
