for background.

Unstructured ramblings initially

Just out of interest, I ordered a POV "stick" yesterday.

Assembly was straightforward. Just read the instructions first. :)

Programs and flashes fine.

Stage 2 was fitting a bipolar stepper (similar to RevEd's GBX008)
to an 18M2 board. CHI030

Straightforward to program for

continuous rotary or "windscreen-wiper" modes.

Next to do is attach the stepper spindle to the centre of gravity

on the back of the "stick", in a manner where the whole lot isn't shaken to pieces.
(The hardest bit in my opinion).

Timer? I could attach a DS1307 to the stick.
The 20M2 scl/sda pins on B.5 and B.7 would require a bit of program re-jigging
and a lot of board restructuring.

Or, go really OTT. :)

Separate clock, which uses IR to "beam" the time to
a TSOP receiver on the stick.

That fairy visits my house often as well !.

As you might know, I like Orreries, and I've a plan for another.
It is basically a rotary POV, and I was interested to see how you got on.

( I've got a plan for yet another, but the tech idea is so 'off the wall' I'm not saying what it is ! )
