G'day one and all!
Does anyone know of an Australian supplier for Humidity and Barometric pressure sensor for a weather station project I'm planning.
Thanks
Gday Champ!
I'm in Perth, and partway through building a picaxe based weather station. By partway I mean I've sourced just about all my hardware, and tested most of it.
We are using the DS18B20 temperature sensor available from maxim ic (www.maxim-ic.com) or through microzed, the Aussie distributors of picaxe chips (http://www.microzed.com.au). Nice and simple interface, and cheap as well.
For humidity I've got a honeywell HIH-3610 series humidity sensor, available through farnell (http://au.farnell.com). Not quite as cheap as I'd like but by far the most accurate for the $$ spent that I've seen. About A$60 from farnell.
We are also measuring barometric pressure. For this we are using a sensortechnics CSDX-baro available from www.sensortechnics.com.
And last but not least, wind speed and direction, using a Davis Instruments standard anemometer and wind vane combo available from http://www.weatherdownunder.net.au
If you want to discuss anything, feel free to send me an email at allenjc@iinet.net.au
Sorry, I should probably clarify:
We are planning on using the CSDX-Baro i2c barometric pressure sensor. At the moment, we can't get it working with the picaxe 28X chip we have. We believe that the latest firmware, which allows reading i2c without specifying a register address, will enable us to get the CSDX-Baro working correctly.
