Sound Recording

Hi,

I am looking for a way (porbably by external chip) to record some very small sound samples (about 24, 0.25 in length), and then play them back via my PICAXE microcontroller.

I have searched a while, but as yet have found nothing completely suitable. Is there any IC that people could recommend (needs to be availiable to UK)?

www.quadravox.com used to make some controller chips for ISD storage chips - not sure what they have currently but it's worth a look around their site...
