Are you using the AXE027 download cable or some other cable or module ?

With the cable connected the lsusb command should report its presence and details of its ID.

Using AXE027 lsusb reports cable attachment but kernel is trying to use the default values for generic FTDI, ignoring the axe027 vendor/product id's. Tried modprobe with -first switch, it showed FATAL error, does this imply that modprobe may be silently doing nothing?
Either get Not Connected or Unknown D.VA errors.

Options 1 and 2 for installing the AXE027 on Linux were tested on Asus eeePc 900 running the default Xandros. It may be that Xandros for the eeePc 700 is not the same as Xandros for the 900.
