USB to Serial converter

My computer has no serial ports, but I have USB to serial converter cord. This works fine with a Basic Stamp editor, but the Picaxe editor won't start because it cannot find a serial port. Help!

 

All handling of the free serial ports is actually done under the Window operating system (not in the prog edit software). Therefore make sure that no other software is using this port before starting the prog edit software, as windows will only allow one application to use a serial port at once.
