Today's find wasn't at the usual pound shop, a little more expensive, but MIB condition from a charity shop ...

Searched high and low for details as to what chip was in it and got nowhere so decided to pay-up and take a screwdriver to it ...

* Kionix KXPA4 3-axis accelerometer
* COB 'black blob' controller
* "JESS ML J2.4GMOC" transceiver

* USB Dongle is break-apart, glue back together, no screws
* "JESS J2.4GMOAX" transceiver

* Appears as a HID compliant game controller with USB dongle plugged in
* Includes 2xAAA batteries so easy to test it's working via Control Panel

Datasheets for KXPA4 are easy enough to find; 3 Analogue outputs ( seems to be wired that way ) or 1 Analogue and multiplex select. It's a DFN package so tiddly but should be easy enough to take flying leads off the board. The COB has contact pads on all its connection lines.

No information on the wireless parts, apart from also used in the 'Rockband Wireless Guitar" and dongle, and a good guess is 2.4GHz. There are other "realplay" games and each dongle apparently pairs with a specific game controller. I guess it's a transceiver as the 'golf club' LED flashes when out of range, on when in range. Range is around 4 metres.

You also get a free blue CD case, a CD 'coaster' and some landfill packaging :)

All I've got do now is figure out something to do with it !
