New Suggestion: Analogue out

It would be great if PICAXE could support analogue out controls, in order to provide a control signal to circuits (e.g. and FET to modify the gain of an opamp), and it owuld be a lot easier than other methods

I do not know a microcontroller with an analgue out capability, so I think a picaxe processor supporting this is simply impossible. However, there are several i2c devices around performing D/A converions, so a PICAXE X part + i2c D/A should do the job.
