Jabber (XMPP) + PicAxe!

Hello all.

Here's another small project I just finished: Make the PicAxe able to 'talk' through the Jabber/GTalk (XMPP) protocol.

You can have PicAxe chip logged on to Jabber/GTalk network and send you updates! You will need a separate jabber account for the chip which you can create here: jabber.org. Add the PicAxe as your 'buddy' and receive data :)

More information here: http://steliosm.net/picaxexmpp.html

Yes, it's a follow up on the previews Twitter + Picaxe projects :)

Now all you need to do is to add a SimpleLAN, and remove the eeePC! :D
Just like your previous Twitter project.

Exactly.

Like the previews project the next 'improved' version of this project will have a SimpleLan module attached to it, so there will be no need for a PC.

Now, where else can we connect our PicAxe chips to...?

SimpleLan

Has anyone purchased a SimpleLan unit recently? I ordered one at the beginning of October but it never turned up. After some emails from Scott with details of the shipping (non-trackable) I asked him to send another one. But emails from him have now dried up, I can't see any units for sale on eBay, and I've had to escalate to a PayPal dispute :(

All rather sad as they sound like just the job for using with a PICAXE.

Are there any alternatives that someone can recommend?

Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim,

I haven't used a SimpleLan module, and neither have I used the following: Lantronix XPort modules. These can also do UDP, HTTP type connections.
